One of the biggest things an organization needs to consider before and during implementation of mobile devices is professional development. Yet, as a teacher, how many times has professional development directly impacted your classroom? Too often, professional development is something done TO you, not FOR you, with no regard to your classroom needs. This is especially true when people are trying to communicate too much information in not enough time about a new device, app, etc. The new Edcamp model of professional development capitalizes on each teacher’s unique types of expertise and areas of need. It reminds us that we don’t have to hire a consultant to get new learning. We are all experts.

Many times, Edcamp looks like a conference, but it can be implemented in many other situations, including in a site-based professional development session or even with students. This session will show how you can implement the Edcamp model in your own setting and learn from those people already around us. We’ll analyze the model, look at possibilities for implementation, and then do it! We’ll run our own tiny Edcamp event in the last half of the session. No need to wonder exactly what it looks like, you’ll have done it! Come find out how Everyone is an Expert at Edcamp!
